Gautam Gambhir has hit the 30th fifty of his Indian Premier League (IPL) career, the most by any player. Playing for for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in (IPL) 2016 24th match against Mumbai Indians (MI), Gambhir scored 59 runs. Gambhir has now hit 30 50-plus scores as well in IPL, which is another record. David Warner is at the second position with 29 50-plus scores. Rohit Sharma has 28 while Suresh Raina has 27 50-plus scores. Chris Gayle is next in the list with 23 50-plus scores. It’s a big achievement for Gambhir as he now has most fifties and also the most 50-plus scores in IPL history. Going past Warner, and now an Indian holding the record in their domestic league is something very big for Gambhir. Gambhir scored 59 runs in the match from 45 balls. He hit six boundaries and a six in his innings of 59 runs. Gambhir is considered one of the finest top-order batsmen in the history of IPL. Gambhir was a regular in the Indian team some years back. He is now struggling to get into the side and his good show in IPL 9 may help him get selected for the Indian national team. Gambhir was helped by Uthappa, who scored 36 off just 20 balls. Uthappa hit a boundary and two sixes in his knock. Shakib-Al-Hasan, who came to bat after the fall of Uthappa made just six runs. Gambhir’s wicket was taken by Mitchell McClenaghan. Suryakumar Yadav, who came two-down made 21 runs. At the time of reporting, KKR were 145 for 5 at the end of 17.2 overs.
