Gautam Gambhir gave his congratulations to Virat Kohli as the star batter has completed 16 years in the line of international cricket. Considering their history in Indian cricket, when Gambhir was a senior player and Kohli made his debut, the coach holds a unique vision on the career of the legendary batter.
Gambhir was present at a turning point in Kohli’s career when he scored his maiden international century against Sri Lanka. Both of them made a crucial partnership in that match, making way for India to win. Even after their disagreements in the past, Gambhir has regularly admired Kohli’s dedication ad passion for the game.
Kohli made his international debut against Sri Lanka on August 18, 2008. since that day, he has grown up to be the peak of cricket world, being established as a legendary player in all the formats of the game. As someone who has seen kohli’s early days himself, Gambhir was not at all surprised by his success, and he highlighted the exceptional talent Kohli had from the very begining.
“When he made his debut in Sri Lanka and played his first ODI, I remember he had got out early. But I knew that he would serve the country for a long time the way he was batting in the nets. He had so much talent that it was just a matter of time that he will perform and I wasn’t surprised with his performance,” Gambhir said in a video posted by Star Sports on X.\
