London: Former England Test captain Geoffrey Boycott has launched a blistering tirade against Alastair Cook, claiming that the current team skipper believes he is ‘untouchable’. Geoffrey, the former obdurate opener, was apparently angered by Cook’s comments towards incoming England and Wales Cricket Board chief Colin Graves after losing the third and final Test against the West Indies in Barbados, as the tourists managed to secure a shock 1-1 series draw. Graves had described the West Indies ‘mediocre’ before the series began, which led Cook to state ‘That’s a Yorkshireman for you – they’re happy to talk a good game.’ In reply to Cook’s comment, Geoffrey said that every time the left-hander opens his mouth, he sticks his foot, adding that it was unbelievable that the skipper talks disrespectfully about Graves, who is going to be his new boss on May 15. Geoffrey also said that they lost a Test and failed to win a series and then blames Graves. He claimed that Cook acts as if he is the best captain England have ever had, the BBC reported. While mounting further criticism against the captain, Geoffrey said that Cook is living in cloud-cuckoo land about his captaincy ability, claiming that the embattled Test skipper thinks he is untouchable.
