Australia‘s George Bailey is all set to join Middlesex for the upcoming Natwest T20 Blast. Bailey will join as a replacement to Australia teammate Adam Voges who will not be available for the club due to national duties. Bailey has had a successful Twenty20 (T20) career and that is what has made him the obvious choice in place of a powerful Voges. Bailey will join Middlesex towards the end of June and will be associated with them till the mid of August. The batsman will represent the team for the two matches against Surrey and Essex scheduled to be played at Lord’s Cricket Ground. IPL 2016: Rising Pune Supergiants announce George Bailey as replacement for injured Faf du Plessis
Talking about the contract, Bailey expressed to lords.org, ”Middlesex is a quality club and I’m looking forward to helping them achieve their objectives this season. Playing at Lord’s is an absolute honour. Who wouldn’t want to have Lord’s as their home ground?”
Managing Director of Cricket, Middlesex, Angus Fraser revealed, “George has an excellent record in all forms of the game, and as someone who has captained his country he will be a valuable addition to the squad on and off the field. We look forward to welcoming George to Lord’s and I am sure our supporters will enjoy watching him perform for the county”.
After not being released by his previous franchise Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Bailey had no chance to play in Indian Premier League (IPL) till the newly formed Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) picked him as a replacement for injured Faf du Plessis.
