Embattled Cricket South Africa CEO Gerald Majola is expected to break his silence on the controversial bonuses that he allocated to himself and other CSA officials for hosting the 2009 IPL here, on Wednesday.
Majola will testify before the three-man inquiry appointed by Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula to investigate the financial affairs of CSA.
Majola will go in with a case that has been substantially weakened by some of his former and current colleagues and bosses at CSA who testified last week.
There was scathing condemnation in the first week from former members of the political wrangling within CSA, including the squabble over the IPL bonuses and dismissal of board members and the former President who had called for an independent inquiry.
But current and former CSA board members, who testified last week, ostensibly to defend Majola, have actually weakened his case, according to commentators here.
An independent inquiry by audit firm KPMG had found Majola to be in breach of the Companies Act. The minister has asked for the inquiry to finalise its report before Christmas.(PTI)
