West Indies coach Ottis Gibson believes that Marlon Samuels and Shane Shillingford will be cleared after they were reported for suspect bowling actions during the recent tour to India.
West Indies are currently in New Zealand and are getting ready to face the hosts in a Test series.
The New Zealand Herald reported that the two bowlers had tested at Perth.
Gibson said, “The initial feedback from the people doing the testing was positive. The ICC [International Cricket Council] set these rules or guidelines and the guys fully adhered to everything they were asked to do and delivered exactly as they were required to do.”
Gibson hopes that they would be cleared soon and the report of the tests would be given to the West Indies team in 14 days. “So we are hoping we’ll get a positive result and the guys can put the episode behind them and start to focus much more on cricket,” Gibson said.
When asked about the impact of the whole experience on Samuels and Shillingford, Gibson said, “It’s tough for them but I think they coped with it quite well, and will definitely come into the reckoning for this test.”
