Harshad Gadekar scored a half-century to steer Goa to a three-wicket win over Kerala on the fourth and final day of their Group C Ranji Trophy match and kept alive their chances of making the knockout stage.
Spinner Gadekar (57) also put on a solid 86-run stand with Ravikant Shukla (28) for the seventh wicket to overhaul the 179-run target after being struggling at 82 for six at one stage.
Resuming on 82 for five, batsman Keenan Vaz departed without adding any run to his overnight.
But Gadekar and Ravikant took the fight to the enemy’s camp and managed to consolidate their position.
But just before they could reach the target, Shukla was cleaned bowled by Manoharan for 28.
Gadekar coupled with Shadab Jakati (4 not out) took Goa home with a cover drive. Gadekar’s unbeaten 57 came off 102 balls, studded with 10 fours and a six.
With this victory, Goa have collected six points to take their tally to 22 points from seven matches, while Kerala remained on 16 points from as many outings.
