The ‘mankading’ incident between Sachithra Senanayake and Jos Buttler during the fifth One-Day International (ODI) doesn’t seem to end. After former England spinner Michael Vaughn expressed his concern, off-spinner Graeme Swann has lambasted the rule and called for removing the rule from cricket. In a series of tweets, Swann developed his own analogies to criticise the rule.
I think if I’d been called for chucking I’d try to keep a low profile for a while rather than pull out the mankad!!! Incredible scenes!
The ‘mankading’ incident occurred when Sri Lankan off-spinner Senanayake warned Buttler twice before running him out while preparing for his delivery stride. While most on social media agreed that Senanayake was well within the rules of cricket to appeal and claim a wicket, former Engkland cricketers and current players were in no mood to be convinced.
