Ahmemdabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and BJP national president Amit Shah today congratulated the Gujarat cricket team for its maiden Ranji Trophy triumph. “Heartiest congratulations to Gujarat cricket team for winning Ranji trophy final. @parthiv9 has been amazing in both the innings. Proud,” Rupani tweeted. Shah, who is also the president of Gujarat Cricket Association, congratulated the team and heaped praised on skipper Parthiv Patel for his “great knock” of 143 runs, which guided Gujarat to register a victory against Mumbai at the Holkar stadium in Indore. “Superb team performance, historic win. Congratulations to Gujarat cricket team on winning @Ranjittrophyfinal. Great knock by skipper @parthiv9,” Shah said on Twitter.

Shah attributed the win to the state’s “constant efforts” to take the game to great heights through “right talent identification and talent cultivation. This is an important day in the history of Gujarat cricket. This is the first time the state (Gujarat) has become a champion. Constant effort was on to take cricket to great heights through right talent identification and talent cultivation,” Shah told reporters here.

“I believe Gujarat Cricket Association has been successful in creating a total team,” he said.”Defeating a strong team like Mumbai is a matter of pride for entire Gujarat. As GCA president, I congratulate Parthiv Patel, coach Vijaybhai Patel, doctors and all those who helped in achieving this, and hope that this tradition will continue for a long time,” said the BJP chief.

Parthiv Patel scored the most significant century of his First-Class career as his power-packed 143 enabled Gujarat to bulldoze defending champions Mumbai by five wickets for their maiden Ranji Trophy title.
