Australian fast bowler of Indian descent, Gurinder Sandhu has been reprimanded for his on-field conduct. Sandhu, playing for New South Wales (NSW) in the JT One-Day Cup tie against Western Australia, was found guilty of showing discontent against an umpire decision.
Sandhu was run out for duck. His team eventually lost the match by 9 runs while chasing 270. Sandhu was charged with a Level 1 offence as per Cricket Australia’s Code of Conduct. According to cricbuzz, match referee David Talalla considered the umpires’ report and proposed sanction for a reprimand. Sandhu accepted the sanction and no hearing took place.
In the match, Sandhu recorded figures of 4 for 57, including three wickets in the last over of West Australia’s innings. He has so far featured in two ODIs for Australia.
Sandhu played for Australia in 2012 Under-19 World Cup. Since then he has represented Sydney Thunders in Big Bash League (BBL), NSW, and Delhi Daredevils in Indian Premier League (IPL).
In the following match, Sandhu went wicket less but NSW gained a 102-run win over Tasmania.
NSW are defending champions who play their next game against Southern Australia in Hurstville on October 6.
