Sohail Tanvir and Rayad Emrit’s heroics towards the end of the innings helped Guyana Amazon Warriors to reach finals of Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2016. Guyana Amazon Warriors needed to score 147 runs in 20 overs after an ordinary display of batting from Jamaica Tallawahs. CPL 2016’s leading run-scorer Chris Lynn played a cautious innings as wickets kept falling from the other end. Rain tried to play spoilsport in the second Playoff as players kept coming on and off the field. Kersick Williams took 4 wickets and created pressure on Guyana Amazon Warriors both in initial and ending stages of the game. After 15 overs Guyana Amazon Warriors needed 53 from 30 balls but Lynn shifted gears and started picking up boundaries. He fell one run short of his half-century but failed to finish the game off.
Tanvir came in and took Jamaica Tallawahs’ bowlers by storm alongside Emrit. 18th over yielded 17 runs, making the win easy for Guyana Amazon Warriors. Williams last over got two wickets but leaked few many runs. Earlier Jamaica Tallawahs had a rather slow start despite Chris Gayle’s presence on the crease. Emrit and Tanvir kept batsmen at bay as they got starts but failed to score at a brisk rate. Emirt and Tanvir claimed 3 and 2 wickets each. Adam Zampa too proved to be economical as he gave 21 runs from 4 overs.
