India‘s vice-captain Harmanpreet Kaur, whose sizzling 171-run knock led the team’s victory in semi-final of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 against Australia, will be honoured by the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC). Kaur’s innnings studded with 20 fours and 7 sizes off 115 balls made India’s entry into the final of the World Cup being played in England. They will know take on England for the summit clash at Lord’s cricket ground on Sunday.
“The whole nation particularly Sikh community is proud of Kaur”, DSGMC general secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa said. He said the committee has decided to honour Kaur after her return from England. Sirsa also congratulated Kaur’s father Harminder Singh over phone.
Coming in at No. 4, Indian eves‘ vice-captain Harmanpreet added her name to the record books by smashing a 171 not out and take her side a step closer to lifting the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 in England. Australia’s thunder was stolen by a maverick knock by Harmanpreet and she became the highest run-scorer for India (both men and women) in an ODI knockout match. She registered her highest individual score, which is also the fifth highest score in women’s cricket.
“I didn’t get a chance to bat in the whole tournament, today when I got the chance I just wanted to utilise it this opportunity because today was the day where I wanted to prove myself. Today’s plan was just watch the ball, hit it hard and this is what I was doing. Some areas they were bowling well but I just wanted to hit and rotate the strike,” Harmanpreet stated after her blitz.
