Hashim Amla was dismissed in the third over against Afghanistan during Group 1 match of ICC World T20 2016 at Mumbai on Sunday. Shapoor Zadran was the wicket-taker for Afghanistan. He went outside off and while trying to go over the covers, he got an edge that was easily caught by Asghar Stanikzai at mid-off. Amla’s dismissal left South Africa at 25 for 1 in 2.4 overs. However, that breakthrough did not affect the run rate of the Proteas as the other opener Quinton de Kock is again on fire, has already smashed two sixes and six boundaries. South Africa are 66 for 1 after 6 overs. LIVE SCORECARD: South Africa vs Afghanistan, T20 World Cup 2016, Match 20 at Mumbai
Out of those 66 runs from the powerplay overs, South Africa’s 60 runs came from the boundaries which surely is a not a good start for Afghanistan. Out of Amla’s five runs, four came from boundary and the other was from a single. The other bowlers who have come into action so far in the match are Amir Hamza, Dawlat Zadran and Mohammad Nabi.
De Kock and Amla had given a flying start in the previous match against England, unlike this time. They had shared a stand of worth 96 runs off 7.1 overs for the first wicket. Amla had contributed 58 off 31 balls and his knock was inclusive of three sixes and seven boundaries.
Earlier, South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first. They have made a huge change by keeping their spearhead Dale Steyn out and have brought in David Wiese instead.
