South African opening batsman Hashim Amla brought up his 26th One-Day International (ODI) half century  off 69 deliveries during the second encounter of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.

Amla had earlier put up a 56-run opening stand with Quinton de Kock, before the latter was dismissed on a score of 26 from 33 balls. Amla hit seven boundaries during his patient innings, that saw him go off to a slow start before catching up in terms of pace with boundaries off some fabulous shots. He hit a boundary over third man off the bowling of Southee to bring up the milestone.

New Zealand have won the toss and have elected to field first. New Zealand have two changes in their playing XI, namely Tim Southee and Mitchell McClenaghan in place of Kyle Mills and Nathan McCullum. South Africa have opted to replace Ryan McLaren with batsman David Miller. The Proteas are thus have limited options in the bowling attack and might have to utilise a part-time bowler.

While the series got off to a good start for the South Africans courtesy a comfortable six-wicket win in the first ODI that took place at the same venue, hosts New Zealand will look to give their best shot in order to draw level and keep the series alive.
