Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Travis Head will miss the team’s IPL 2025 match against Lucknow Super Giants, as he has not yet arrived in India. Head coach Daniel Vettori shared this important update on Sunday. The Australian left-hander is expected to land in India on Monday morning, and it remains uncertain whether he’ll be available for the final two games.
Vettori confirmed that Travis Head tested positive for COVID-19, which caused a delay in his arrival in India. However, the exact timing of when the left-hander contracted the virus remains unknown.
SRH are currently in the eighth place on IPL 2025 points table, and they have been eliminated from the playoff race. Following their match against LSG at the Ekana on Monday, the team will have two more games left one against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 23 and another against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 25.
“Travis is coming in tomorrow morning, he was delayed. He actually had COVID, so he couldn’t travel, so he’ll get in tomorrow morning and we’ll assess how he is after that,” Vettori told reporters in the press conference.
Coming to SunRisers Hyderabad, the team that made it to last season’s finals, struggled to maintain consistent performances this year. Their explosive batting lineup Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan, and Heinrich Klaasen fell short of expectations, rarely delivering strong performances together.
