Cameron Green and Alex Carey are building a great partnership as Australia have crossed the 100 runs mark with the loss of five wickets. Earlier, Australia were in real trouble, while chasing a total of 232 runs against New Zealand in the first ODI match of the series. Trent Bout took three wickets. Matt Henry also got a wicket and was looking really dangerous with the ball.
In first innings, New Zealand only managed to score 232 runs for the loss of nine wickets as Glenn Maxwell registered his best-ever bowling figures in ODI to dent the visitors’ hopes of getting to a big total. The Kiwis had a really bad start as they lost Martin Guptill early on just 10 runs. Australia, then, removed Devon Conway for 46 runs and captain Kane Williamson for 45 runs.
After removing Williamson, Maxwell got Daryl Mitchell for 26 runs. He, then, got rid of Tom Latham and Michael Bracewell.
Australia are hosting New Zealand in a three-match ODI series. The first ODI match of the series is being played on Tuesday at Cazaly’s stadium in Cairns, Queensland. Both the teams will look to get a good start to the series and win the match.
The Aaron Finch-led Australian side will be banking on their top players to get the victory. David Warner has been in fine form for quite some time now and he will get ample support from the likes of Steven Smith, Marnus Labuschagne and Glenn Maxwell. Mitchell Starc will look to do damage with the ball.
For New Zealand, captain Kane Williamson will be the key and he will be looking to get support from his top batters Martin Guptill and Tom Latham. Lockie Ferguson and Trent Boult will be dangerous with the ball.
