The unbeaten Highveld Lions won their third match in the South African One Day Cup Friday with a 19-run victory over the Cape Cobras in Cape Town.

Lions won the toss and elected to bat first. A strong partnership between skipper Stephen Cook and Gulam Bodi set 65 runs off 76 balls, but the match failed to pick up after.

Bodi’s unimpressive 45 was the highest score from both sides after the Lions’ 248 runs in their allotted 50 overs.

The Cobras’ listless batting however failed to reach the realistic target, and were bowled out for 229 with over three overs left.

Hardus Viljoen, star bowler for the Lions, took a meeker two wickets for 36 runs after stellar 4/17 and 6/19 in the first two matches.

Meanwhile rain forced a draw between the Warriors and Dolphins in Durban. Dolphins were sent in to bat after losing the toss. They struggled to perform, managing only 67 after 17 overs, with the loss of two wickets
