Himachal Pradesh Olympic Association and Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association will work jointly for upliftment of sports in the state, newly appointed HPOA president Anuraag Thakur said.

Himachal Pradesh Olympic Association (HPOA) and Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) will work jointly for upliftment of sports in the state, newly appointed HPOA president Anuraag Thakur said.
“The size and facilities of the new infrastructure for the sports shall be taken up according to the availability of land, interest of youth in particular game and priority of the area, so that it could help in generating talent,” Thakur told PTI.
He added that the association was producing the document in this regard.
Thakur also mentioned that they were looking forward to constitute the Himachal Pradesh State Sports Promotion Board to lift the overall profile of the sports in the state.
Two members in this board will be from the HPOA, while an equal number of representatives will be from the HPCA. Apart from them the board will figure five members from the industrial houses, Thakur informed.
He said that HPCA was in process of appointing 40 coaches for different sports and informed that they will report to HPOA from the field, so that sports can move in the right direction.
Thakur, who is also the BJP MP fro Hamirpur, said that the association has suggested some new steps to the government to lift the stature of sports in the state.
Thakur, meanwhile, said that they will soon be felicitating Olympic silver medallist Vijay Kumar at Dharamsala.
