Before the 2025 season of Indian Premier League (IPL) begins, Rajasthan Royals (RR) have shared their ideas about their youngest recruit Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The 13-year-old player became the youngest player in IPL history to have won himself a contract as he got signed by RR for Rs. 1.10 crore during IPL mega-auction in Jeddah.

The teenager had a staggering performance in the 2024 season, where he dominated in both domestic and international cricket. Vaibhav scored 71 off 42 balls when playing in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 and became the youngest Indian to score a List A fifty. Meanwhile, on the international stage, he scored a century in just 58 balls against Australia, becoming the fastest Indian youth player to score a Test century.

RR batting coach Vikram Rathour praised the young player and believes the he will rise to the top if he works hard. However, Vikram also revealed that it will take some time for the teenager to mark his IPL debut, which also depends on he team’s strategy.

I am not sure if we will use him or not, it will depend on the strategy, the surface and the opposition. We acquired his services because he is a very special player. He has a lot of ability, he may be young but I have hardly ever seen a player this young to possess the power he has. The signs are great and if he works hard I am sure he will be a big player,” said Rathour in a press conference on Tuesday.
