ICC clears Eden and Wankhede for World Cup matches

The International Cricket Council has given final approvals to Eden Gardens in Kolkata and Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai for hosting World Cup matches.

ICC clears Eden and Wankhede for World Cup matches

The International Cricket Council has given final approvals to Eden Gardens in Kolkata and Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai for hosting World Cup matches.

 

Ratnakar Shetty, the tournament director has reportedly confirmed ICC’s clearance to the venues. The Eden Gardens, after losing the India vs England match of February 27 will now host remaining three other matches — South Africa vs Ireland on March 15, Ireland vs Netherlands on March 18 and Zimbabwe vs Kenya on March 20.

 

Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai will host Canada vs New Zealand on March 13 and New Zealand vs Sri Lanka on March 18, apart from the World Cup final on April 2.

 

The World Cup begins on February 19 with India taking on Bangladesh in Dhaka.
