Bangladesh take on Scotland in their Match 27 of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 at the Saxton Oval, Nelson on Thursday. Bangladesh will be hoping to win this encounter and keep their hopes alive for qualifying for the quarter-finals. They will be up against the Scotsmen, who have already lost their three opening games and have a slim chance of getting through. Live Scorecard: Bangladesh vs Scotland, ICC Cricket World Cup 2015

Both teams have played three games so far (Bangladesh has technically played two; their match against Australia was washed away). Bangladesh currently stands third in the points table following a win (against Afghanistan), a loss (against Sri Lanka) and a no-result (with Australia). Scotland, on the other hand, has had a poor performance, losing all three matches they have played — against New Zealand, England and Afghanistan. Top 10 batsmen in ICC Cricket World Cup 2015

Considering their individual performance so far, Bangladesh’s batting has been shaky; they have not been able to score a single hundred in the tournament, with the partnership between Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan against Afghanistan being the only highlight. In the bowling department, too, Mashrafe Mortaza and Shakib have been the only decent performers. ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: POINTS TABLE

Scotland, too, have been unable to register a single hundred, though Kyle Coetzer, Matt Machan, and Richie Berrington have not done too badly. Of the bowlers, Josh Davey, Ian Wardlaw, and Berrington doing competent jobs at best.

Saxton Oval has a somewhat flat track, known to favour the batting side. Of the four matches played here, three have been won by the side batting second — which is probably a statistic the captains would want to have a look at. ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: SCHEDULE & MATCH DETAILS

Bangladesh would like to make a change or two in the side from the previous game; they may want to replace Mominul Haque with Arafrat Sunny, Nasir Hossain or Taijul Islam. Scotland, on the other hand, may replace Calum MacLeod with Safyaan Sharif and Hamish Gardiner with Michael Leask.

Scotland and Bangladesh have met only once in World Cup cricket. Bangladesh had won the 1999 encounter at Edinburgh by 22 runs. Bangladesh holds the upper hand in this match as well, and are likely to dominate proceedings this time too. However, Scotland can cause an upset and cannot be completely written off despite three consecutive losses; they could end up being party-spoilers for Bangladesh.

Squad:
