Melbourne: Under the cloudy skies in Melbourne, South Africa resumed training at the Junction Oval, St Kilda. This was an optional training session for the South Africans and Dale Steyn opted to stay away. The session was supervised by coach Russell Domingo, Gary Kirsten and Allan Donald.
South Africa first started off by playing a game of football to warm up. The team was divided into two batches and were playing in good spirit. There was one small scare though. Wayne Parnell collided into Quinton de Kock, who fell to the ground clutching his thigh. De Kock went off and watched the game from the sidelines. He looked fine thereafter but it may have been a concern after he had missed four One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against the West Indies last month due to an ankle injury. His ankle is still strapped as a precaution. ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: POINTS TABLE
The game continued though, and the big Morne Morkel stood before the small makeshift goalposts. Rilee Rossouw had tried to shoot but found Morkel, who tried to kick it away. However, the ball his Rossouw’s back and went into the goal posts. The whole unit shared a big laugh. ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: SCHEDULE & MATCH DETAILS
After the warmup was done, the bowlers headed to the centre wicket, where Charl Langeveldt and Donald, had the fast bowlers bowling with a few cones set around the good length. Kyle Abbott, Parnell, Morkel and Farhaan Behardien honed their skills. At the other end of the ground, the batsmen commenced practice with Hashim Amla, de Kock and Rossouw starting off.
