ICC World Twenty20 (T20) 2016 is just around the corner with the qualifiers beginning from March 8 and the final will take place on April 3. The Indian cricket team will play warm-up matches in their build-up to the ICC World T20 2016 at Kolkata and Mumbai. It must be remembered that India will be hosting the ICC World T20 tournament for the very first time, having won the inaugural edition in 2007 in South Africa. India will be facing South Africa in Mumbai and the West Indies in Kolkata, on March 10 and 12 respectively. While the main round of the ICC World T20 2016 begins on March 15, the qualifying round will be played from March 8-13. Eight teams have already qualified for the main round, whereas one team each from two groups of four will qualify for the main tournament. The teams who will be playing in the first round — the qualification round of the ICC World T20 2016 — the warm-up matches have already begun fro March 3, in Dharamsala and Mohali. The eight teams who already have qualified for the tournament will be playing their warm-up matches — two each — from March 10-15. Matches are are slotted in afternoon and evening. Though the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) are still fighting to hold matches in their venue, as of now there are no confirmations on the matches being shifted to other venues. The semi-final will be played at Delhi and Mumbai with the final slotted to play at Eden Gardens. After winning the Asia Cup T20 2016 title, former cricketers from every country consider India to be favorites.
