India and West Indies Under-19 clash in the fifth place playoff tie in a bid to salvage some pride after being knocked out by Ashes rivals, England and Australia respectively in the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2014.
The Sharjah cricket stadium has witnessed many historical chapters of Team India unfold on its friendly batting wicket and this fixture is expected to be no different with a high scoring game on the cards.
Despite the early exit from the main tournament, there have been a lot of bright spots for both teams, whom the selectors will have an eye on. India’s wealth of batting talent in the form of captain Vijay Zol, Sanju Samson and Sarfaraz Khan have already made an impact in the tournament while Kuldeep Yadav has been the pick of the bowlers with his chinaman putting many a batsman in a tangle.
West Indies, on the other hand can take a lot of pride from the sterling performances of Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Nicolas Pooran, who scored a brilliant 143 against Australia in a losing cause.
