The vice-president of International Cricket Council (ICC) AHM Mustafa Kamal has confirmed that  the controversial draft of  to change Tests in to two-tier system will be rejected in the upcoming ICC board meeting.

“I think it (the draft position paper) will not be passed in this meeting. “This proposal contradicts the existing ICC constitution. To pass, it needs eight [out of ten full members’] votes. Papon (BCB President Nazmul Hasan) will vote in the meeting [on behalf of BCB] and, I believe, he will do whatever it takes for the greater interest of our cricket,” Kamal was quoted as saying by Daily Star.

The proposal on restructuring the ICC with more power and revenue in favour of the ‘Big Three’ will also be tabled.  The draft includes formation of a four-member committee which will give India, Australia and England a permanent representation.

One of the key aspects of the draft recommended that the the committee will have the sole right for any decision to be passed by in the ICC, formation of Federation of International Cricketers’ Association (FICA), forming the Test Championship involving the top eight teams and introducing an Inter-Continental Cup where the bottom two in the top ten Test playing nations will have to fight with associate members.

The draft poses a grave threat to the existence of Bangladesh in the main league of Test cricket.
