Earlier, Sri Lanka skipper Inoka Ranaweera won the toss and elected to bat first. They were off to a steady start, but kept losing wickets at regular intervals, following the fall of the opening wicket of Nipuni Hansika for 17. Nevertheless, it was fellow opener Hasini Perera who accumulate a calm 46 – the highest score of the innings. Apart from her, Ama Kanchana performed well with the bat, as she provided some late fightback, therefore allowing Sri Lanka to go past the 200-run mark.
England too were off to a steady start, but their opening wicket fell at the score of 33. Nevertheless, it was the pair of Taylor and Knight which was enough to contribute to a 148-run stand for the third wicket, before Knight fell for 82, while Taylor finished the job for England. This win takes them to the second spot in the table with four points, just one behind current leaders South Africa.
