South Africa captain AB de Villiers has picked New Zealand as one of the favourites to win the ICC World Cup 2015, to be held in February-March next year. New Zealand are the co-hosts along with Australia.

The South African skipper believes that familiarity with the conditions will be one of the strongest points in favour of the Kiwis’ side. De Villiers was quoted as saying by IOL Sports, “I’d call them one of the favorites. We know what they’re capable of, and especially in these kind of conditions. They must be very motivated to do well.”

Meanwhile, Kane Williamson, New Zealand’s premier batsman, is in doubt for the series against South Africa. The three-match bilateral tournament against South Africa begins next week in New Zealand. This was a bad blow with the ICC World Cup 2015 only a few months away.

The Kiwi batsman came back from the Champions League T20 (CLT20) 2014 with a sore left wrist. Due to the trouble in the wrist he received a cortisone injection on last Friday. Williamson was in very good form for the Northern Knights in the Champions League T 20 2014 in India, however the wrist problem began to cause him considerable discomfort.
