New Delhi: The ICC CEO Dave Richardson said that the parent body of cricket will enter into a “working relationship with country’s police and (investigative) agencies” in order to prevent any anti-corruption activity during the upcoming ICC World T20. The ICC has entered into a tie-up with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as Anti-Corruption & Security Unit (ACSU) will work closely with India’s central investigative agency during the marquee event. “Whenever we have an event, the ICC ACSU’s full resources allocated to that event. In addition, we making sure we enter into working relationship with police and agencies in the country to make event corruption free,” Richardson said at an ICC promotional event. Richardson had backed India to come strong and had also predicted India as the potential favourites to win the ICC World T20 2016, scheduled to be held in India from March. During the official launch event of the tournament in Mumbai last month, Richardson said, “India are favourites in home conditions. But West Indies won in Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka in Bangladesh. It’s an open tournament.”
Richardson had also praised India for its concern towards world cricket and caring for the game, during the ICC World T20 2016 official launch. “India has always been a country that supports Cricket, not only the Indian cricket team,” he said. “We need to promote the tournament as well as we can. India has done well in taking up with the T20 cricket,” he added.
