ICC World Twenty20 (T20) 2016 is set to begin in few hours and Hong Kong will take on Zimbabwe in Match 1 at Nagpur. Hong Kong and Zimbabwe won a match each in the warm up matches against Himachal Pradesh and Ireland. Though Hong Kong has an upper hand in T20 format by playing against UAE, Afghanistan and Oman in Asia Cup T20 2016. Zimbabwe’s exposure in international cricket should hold them in good stead and see them come out on top in Group B. They, however, have in their ranks the likes of Hamilton Masakadza, Sean Williams and Malcolm Waller among others to pose a significant threat. With not much experience, Hong Kong could well turn out to be the team in Group B of the qualifying stage. Hong Kong will hope that Campbell, alongside Mark Chapman and Babar Hayat, the other promising batsmen in the line-up, deliver the goods and help the side punch above their weight.
Hong Kong will hope that they can somehow turn their fortunes around and show that they are worthy of a spot in the qualifying stage of the mega event. The qualifying matches will begin today and the main tournament will play from March 14. India will play their first match on March 15 against New Zealand in Nagpur.
