As the ICC World Twenty20 (T20) 2016 tournament is about to begin from March 8, ICC announced the global tour of Trophy across 12 countries participating in the tournament. Nissan who is sponsoring the tour of the trophy across these countries began with the tour from Scotland following the tour to Ireland, England and Netherlands covering the European base. The trophy will be displayed in all the international and domestic matches played across the countries alongside at public places that enables the fans to capture glimpses of the trophy. The trophy reached Mumbai on Sunday morning, March 6 just two days before the mega event begins. The trophy was unveiled by former Indian cricketer Sameer Dighe at Worli in Mumbai. After the European tour, the trophy reached Africa between January 2-7 and from there on to sub continents starting with Pakistan from January 11-12. The trophy moved to Bangladesh from January 14-15 to Sri Lanka between January 17-18. The trophy was also displayed in the Trans-Tasman Tour in New Zealand touring Wellington and then heading towards Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney until January 31. It was on February 1 the trophy reached New Delhi. The first match of India will be played against New Zealand at Nagpur. Apart from 10 countries participating in the tournament two more countries from associate nations Ireland, Netherlands, Afghanistan, Oman, Hong Kong and Scotland will join along in the men’s match. The women’s match will run alongside which will be between Australia, Bangladesh, England, Australia, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, West Indies, South Africa and Sri Lanka.
