ICC World T20: Taylor blitz in vain as South Africa clinch narrow win

South African pacer Dale Steyn bagged four wickets as New Zealand lost by 9 runs in their ICC World Twenty20 Championship at Colombo on Monday.

New Zealand looked stable when skipper Ross Taylor smashed 75 from 42 balls, hitting 7 sixes. However, he was dismissed by Lonwabo Tsotsobe.

Steyn took three wickets in his final over, weakening the Black Caps chances of winning their last T20 match.

Apart from him, Tsotsobe, Albie Morkel and Morne Morkel picked up one wicket each.

Rob Nicol scored 37 runs, however, he was also dismissed by Steyn.

Earlier, South Africa skipper AB de Villiers smashed half-century to take the team to a challenging total against New Zealand in their ICC World Twenty20 Championship warm-up match at Colombo on Monday.

The Proteas were put to bat first after New Zealand won the toss. JP Duminy scored 30 rums off 24 balls.

Adam Milne and James Franklin took two wickets each for the Black Caps as South Africa set up a target of 187.
