Former Pakistan pacer Sarfraz Nawaz has flayed his former team-mate and World Cup winning captain Imran Khan for stating that India are favourites for the high-octane semifinal to be played at Mohali on Wednesday.

“Imran has very wrongly stated that India are favourites for the semifinal clash. He should not have said so while sitting in India. Imran should have encouraged his own team. Pakistan have all the potential and skills to beat India,” Sarfraz was quoted as saying by the Lahore-based Daily Times.

The former fast bowler described the India-Pakistan clash as a big match. “This is a match of the century. No one can predict the winning team,” It is even. Any team can outclass the other side. The team playing better on the day will win the match,” he said.

He further said both teams had their own strengths and would be better off focusing on that. “If the Indian batsmen are in their peak form, the Pakistan bowlers are also performing well and will surely show their class,” he added.
