BCB Select XI are the off with the mark with flying start as they posted 309 for 9 against England XI in the practice match on Tuesday at Fatullah. Imrul Kayes, who was at his best in the top-order against Afghanistan in the first One-Day International (ODI), secured his century off just  109 deliveries. It was not just Kayes but tagging along were Mushfiqur Rahim and skipper Nasir Hossain who score a fifty and 46 runs respectively. England XI looked completely sloppy conceding too many runs on the go. But it was Chris Woakes death bowling and ending with figures of 3 for 52 while Ben Stokes got 2 for 36 along with David Willey’s 2 for 63. BCB XI were at the best on the field, until the death overs got the better of them and there were constant fall of wickets.

BCB Select won the toss and opted to bat first. Imrul and Soumya Sarkar started the innings. Imrul struck two fours while Sarkar one to being with. There was nothing stopping Imrul as he was binging into fours and sixes every over, leaving the England XI bowlers baffled. Sarkar could have helped his partner all the way, but once again he failed to go all guns blazing and was dismissed for 7 by Chris Woakes. Nazmul Hossain was the next man on the crease and in no time BCB Select XI reached 50 runs within the 10th over in 43 minutes. Imrul who was 50 off 46 balls in 72 minutes in no time reached his century in 116 minutes. BCB Select XI were in complete commanding position as they were 150 half-way through the innings. Nazmul played a commendable role as he scored 36 and was Adil Rashid got his first wicket. Mushfiqur came in and turned the tables around for BCB Select XI once again and kept them at the top of the game. The blitzkrieg combination of Kayes and Rahim was helped Bangladesh stay in charge of the game for long. After 11 fours and six sixes, Kayes was dismissed for 121 by Willey.

Nasir Hossain the new batsman along with Rahim helped BCB Select XI reach 200-run mark in a jiffy. When Rahim scored his fifty off 54 deliveries in 77 minutes, BCB Select XI were off to 250-run mark. Soon after, Rahim was grabbed for 51 by Stokes. The  wickets kept falling since then, but with Nasir’s 46, BCB Select XI managed to put up 309 on board.

England bowlers were taken for a ride as the spinners were deeply affected. Rashid and Moeen Ali conceded as many as 76 and 43 runs. Willey also was smashed for expensive boundaries and conceded 63 runs at the end of his spell. England batsmen have task on hand and a unit that comprises of Jason Roy, James Vince, Jonathan Bairstow and skipper Jos Buttler, England XI have slight hope alive.
