India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja got appreciated by the entire team and staff after his remarkable knock during the Lord’s Test, especially by the head coach Gautam Gambhir, which is sure to give him another level of confidence and motivation to perform well in the upcoming opportunities.
Jadeja was standing on strike with years of experience, confidence, perfect amount of smartness and great strategy- and scored 61 runs on 181 balls. However, luck was not with him and India lost that match by 22 runs.
Both the teams had posted 387 runs in their first innings, and the hosts gave the visitors a target of 193. Chasing their score, the Shubman Gill-led side got wrapped up for 170 runs due to a collapse in the top and middle-order. Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah made strong effort to keep the Indian side alive, followed by a strong partnership between Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj. However, the pacer’s unfortunate dismissal cost the visitors to lose the match by 22 runs.
BCCI posted a video on their website in which we saw Indian Head coach Gautam Gambhir praising the impactful innings of Ravindra Jadeja. He said, “That was an incredible fight. The fight from Jaddu (Jadeja) was absolutely brilliant.”
Assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate was also in the video, who said, “His batting has reached another level. In the last two Tests the consistency and the calmness he brought to the dressing room. I’ve watched him for so many years and how he’s developed his game now, his defence is rock solid, looks like a proper batter.”
Sitanshu Kotak- the batting coach of Indian team and the former teammate of Jadeja from the Saurashtra squad at domestic Level, mentioned his temperament under pressure. “I always felt he has the ability to take pressure. With so much of experience, he normally comes with something that the team needs in any challenging conditions. Really, really valuable to the team,” Kotak said.
“It’s very difficult to get a player like me and we are lucky to have such a player in our team,” said Mohammed Siraj while praising Jadeja’s all-round abilities.
Even though the Indian team lost the Lord’s Test and are trailing the series 1-2, they still have a chance to win as they aim to win the upcoming two matches- with the next match set to be held at Manchester from July 23rd.
