A four-wicket haul by Josh Hazlewood , followed by Mitchell Starc (2/14), Mitchell March (2/12) and captain Pat Cummins (2/67) helped the hosts wrap up India’s inning for 150 in the first inning of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Perth. India’s opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal got dismissed for a duck, followed by Virat Kohli who got dismissed for 5 runs.
Nitish Kumar Reddy was the highest run-scorer for India, who came out to be the batter with the score of 41 runs. Apart from Reddy, Rishabh Pant scored 37 runs.
KL Rahul was the player who showed strong technique and temperament during his time at the crease. Though, young players like Yashasvi Jaiswal (0) and Devdutt Padikkal (0) struggled , while Virat Kohli failed to face the challenges presented to him with his form as we had seen before. The controversial dismissal of KL Rahul was the highlight of India’s innings.
With their dominating bowling, Australian iconic bowling lineup namely Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and spinner Nathan Lyon secured their name in the record books during the first Test. They became the first bowlers in Test history to collectively reach 500 wickets when playing together.
