In Hyderabad, India delivered three quick blows to England during the morning session of the first Test. At lunch, Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root had the visitors up 118/3. Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley, the openers, put up 55 runs before Ravichandran Ashwin removed the latter after only 35 deliveries. Then Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Ollie Pope, who could only muster one run. Following a spectacular catch at mid-off by Mohammed Siraj, Ashwin scored his second of the innings. In Hyderabad, England had earlier won the toss and chosen to bat.
