In an emotional moment, Akash Deep stroked his mother’s feet to ask for her blessings before giving her a hug. His family also praised the almighty.
In the fourth Test match between India and England at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi, Akash Deep made his debut. Just prior to Friday’s toss, India head coach Rahul Dravid gave Akash his Test cap. Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested from this match due to workload management, was replaced by the right-arm pacer. India’s 313th Test cricketer was Akash Deep.
As the other Indian cricket players patted him on the back, captain Rohit Sharma gave skipper Akash Deep a passionate embrace after the great Rahul Dravid gave him his hat. After the cap ceremony, Akash Deep went directly to his family, just like Sarfaraz Khan did in the previous Test.

Mukesh Kumar, Akash’s teammate from Bengal, lost out to him for a position in the Indian XI. The management had essentially chosen to give Bumrah a rest following the Ranchi encounter, hence the 27-year-old was added to India’s team for the last two Test matches. In the first three Tests of this series, Bumrah bowled with all of his might.
