Hyderabad: Virat Kohli would have the opportunity to create history once again as Rohit Sharma-led Team India takes on Tom Latham’s New Zealand in the first ODI of the three-match ODI series at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
The star Indian batter is in exceptional form and has smashed 3 centuries in his last four ODI matches and shattered many records. He would now have the opportunity to once again surpass the God of Cricket and Aussie legend Ricky Ponting in the ODI series against New Zealand.
Virat Kohli has 5 centuries against New Zealand, which is the joint third most with Sachin Tendulkar and Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya. The list is topped by India’s explosive batter Virender Sehwag who got 6 centuries against NZ in just 23 matches.
Ricky Ponting got 6 centuries against NZ too but those came in 51 matches. If Virat Kohli smashes a century he would climb to second position in the list as he would 6 centuries in just 27 ODI matches against New Zealand
