The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday afternoon announced the squad that will take on South Africa in the first tour match, a Twenty20 game, at Palam on September 29. The South Africans will be playing a three-match Twenty20 series, a five-match One-Day International (ODI) series and a four-Test series, starting October 2. The T20 tour match was supposed to be held at the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) ground at New Delhi, but an ongoing dispute between the two factions in the cricket governing body forced the BCCI to move the game to the Palam Ground, managed by Services. The tour match will be the only game that will give South Africa some real practise, before their opening T20 International against India at Dharamsala on October 2.
The tour match consists a lot of players who have impressed especially in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Mumbai Indians’ all-rounder Hardik Patel, the leg-spinner from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Yuzvendra Chahal are among the few names who have managed to impress the selectors.
