Following a hard-fought match for three days, the struggling Australians managed to end up with a deserving draw against India A, on Day 3 of the warm-up tie at Mumbai.

Following a hard-fought match for three days, the visiting Australians managed to end up with a deserving draw against India A, on Day 3 of the warm-up tie at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. Australia, who made a fair and steady start to the match on Day 1, managed to post a modest total of 469 by Day 2, with skipper Steven Smith, and Shaun Marsh scoring blistering centuries each. In reply, India A managed to post total of 403 on Day 3, with Shreyas Iyer scoring a well deserving unbeaten double hundred. On Day 3, the post-tea session saw Australia begin their innings on 49 for the loss of 2 wickets, with opener David Warner and Stephen O’Keefe on the crease. However, it was just 10 runs later, when the Indian bowlers struck, as the danger man in the form of Warner was dismissed for 35 by fast bowler Ashoke Dinda, after being caught by Baba Indrajith, who was acting as a substitute fielder. It was followed by a 42-run stand between O’Keefe and Peter Handscomb, before the latter fell for a fair score of 37, after being dismissed by Rishabh Pant, as he was caught by Gowtham. Immediately after the dismissal of Handscomb, the captains of the side decided that it was not possible to force a result for this tie, and mutually decided to settle for a draw. Four Indian bowlers were involved in the four wickets that fell for Australia in the second innings.
