India recorded a comfortable seven-wicket victory against Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in a one-day match of the Emerging Players’ Meet.
The match that was being played at the Fred Ktatzman Oval witnessed AIS skipper Jon Holland electing to bat.
Indians led by pacer R Vinay Kumar (3/15) skittled out the hosts for 99 in 28.5 overs. The Indians chased down the meagre target in only 18.5 overs losing three wickets.
As many as six AIS batsmen failed to reach the double figures with only Glenn Maxwell (22) crossing 20. Indian skipper Shikhar Dhawan who didn’t come out to bat also picked three wickets for 12 runs with his spin bowling.
Speedster Umesh Yadav (2/26) and left-arm spinner Bhargav Bhatt shared the remaining spoils.
While chasing, openers Srikkanth Aniruddha (32, 25 balls, 4×4,1×6) and Ajinkya Rahane (37, 26 balls, 8×4) added 70 for the opening stand to seal the issue. Vice-captain Rahane in particular was severe on AIS bowlers. India next play a three-day game against South African Emerging side.
