India ended up being on the winning the side on the final day of the first Test against New Zealand at Green Park Stadium, Kanpur. The final day of the match began with New Zealand resuming their chase from 93 for 4. Luke Ronchi and Mitchell Santner both impressed with their batting by scoring 80 and 71 respectively. It was visible that after them, New Zealand will soon collapse and will hand the victory to India in their 500th Test.

It was Ravindra Jadeja who did the job of taking first wicket of the day in the form of Ronchi. Further, it was followed by two quick wickets of BJ Watling and Mark Craig by Mohammed Shami. In between, Santner kept his side alive in the game by trying best to drag the match as long as possible but Ravichandran Ashwin did not let him do that as he was sent back to pavilion by him. As expected, soon they were all out for 236 and India won the match by a huge margin of 197 runs.

Well, there were several heroes from this match and not to forget that the Kiwi side played very well and adapted quite early to the conditions as compared to other teams who have toured India in last few years. Although, they lost the game but they were never out from the contest and if Kane Williamson had not been dismissed on Day 4, the result could probably have been something else.

Meanwhile, we present some interesting reactions from the fans on India’s win.
