Electing to bat, Mithali Raj slammed 97* off just 69 balls to help India post 169 for 3 in their stipulated 20 overs. Mithali struck 13 fours and a six. Mithali shared 86 runs off just 53 balls for the third wicket with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, who scored a 23-ball 32.
Malaysia lost their first wicket in the second over when Pooja Vastrakar cleaned up wicketkeeper-batswoman Christina Baret for 0. Shikha Pandey removed the other opener Yusrina Yaakop for a duck.
Pooja picked 3 wickets, while Anuja Patil and Poonam Yadav struck with 2 wickets each.
