India have dethroned South Africa as No.1 ranked ODI team after winning the Durban ODI. According to the latest ICC ODI Team Rankings, India occupy top spot just ahead of South Africa. India prior to series was placed on second spot with 119 points in ICC ODI Team Rankings. South Africa were 2 points ahead on 121 and at No.1 position. With no sight of any other major ODI team playing for the next few weeks both team will remain unchallenged and would have built much-needed breathing space.

England (116), New Zealand (115) and Australia (115) complete a closely-knit top 5. Afghanistan and Zimbabwe will play a 5-ODI series starting February 9, 2018. It must be noted that a 4-2 win here for India, will consolidate their position at number 1 in the Rankings with 122 points. South Africa will slip 2 points down to 118 points.

Both side will take on each other in a 3-T20I series as well. India are ranked No.3 with 121 points, while South Africa are at No.6 with 112 points. A series loss there, India will move to No.4 below Pakistan, New Zealand and England.
