India inch close to victory in Emerging Players Tournament

Saurabh Tiwary, Ajinkya Rahane and Ashok Menaria scored centuries as India look good to register a comprehensive innings victory over Australian Institute of Sports in the concluding three-day encounter of the Emerging Players Meet being played at Endeavour Park.
After dismissing AIS for 205, almost all the top-order Indian batsmen made substantial contributions as the visitors scored 534 gaining an overall lead of 329 runs. AIS in their second essay were 93 for two still 236 runs required to avoid innings defeat.
After two overnight batsmen Rahane (100) and Menaria (112) reached their individual milestones, Saurabh Tiwary took over sending AIS bowlers on a leather hunt plundering 151 runs from 148 balls with the help of 14 boundaries and seven sixes.
Another in-form batsman Manoj Tiwary also smashed a quickfire 59 with the help of four boundaries and five sixes.
Young Manish Pandey who hasn’t been good form also joined the party scoring 66 off 50 balls with the help of two fours and half-a-dozen sixes. The worst sufferer was Australian Test discard Micahel Beer who gave away 115 runs in his 14-over spell.
