The Indian cricket team moved up to second position in the World Test Championship (WTC) points table after defeating England in the second Test match in Visakhapatnam on Monday. Thanks to the victory, India’s PCT increased to 52.77, allowing them to overtake South Africa, New Zealand, and Bangladesh, all of which had PCTs of 50. India entered the game in fifth place, but owing to superb batting efforts from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, as well as a bowling masterpiece from Jasprit Bumrah, they rallied to draw the five-match series 1-1. Australia continues to dominate the WTC rankings, with a PCT of 55.

Indian bowlers fought an intriguing struggle against England’s fiery hitting to tie the series at 106 runs in the second Test on Monday, blunting ‘Bazball’ with their grit in a roller-coaster clash.

England started day four on 67 for one, chasing a record target of 399. They were bowled out for 292 in the late afternoon session.

The visiting team’s no-holds-barred strategy, which had previously been effective, failed on this occasion, as India picked up nine wickets over the space of two sessions to reclaim the five-match series.

The third Test will be held at Rajkot beginning February 15.
