India became the world champions for the fourth time, as they defeated Australia by 8 wickets in the final of ICC U-19 World Cup at Mount Maunganui on Saturday. Manjot Kalra’s 101* and Harvik Desai’s 47* helped India chase down 217. Shiva Singh, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Anukul Roy and Ishan Porel claimed 2 wickets each. However, the Australian bowlers were hammered as Will Sutherland and Param Uppal were the only ones to scalp wickets.
During the match, several cricketers poured in their wishes as India were easing to the finishing line. As soon as India lifted the trophy, Twitterati congratulated the young boys as well as their head coach Rahul Dravid.

The winning spree began when Mohammad Kaif’s side lifted the title in 2000. It was followed by Virat Kohli’s side in 2008. India won their third title under Unmukt Chand in 2012 against Australia at Townsville by 6 wickets.
