Reports have emerged that India may in fact go ahead with the tour of Zimbabwe, albeit fielding a second string side. The tour was earlier cancelled by India owing to reasons of player fatigue and broadcaster issues. However, constant talks are being held between the two cricket boards and they are likely to reach a solution.

According to ESPNcricinfo, discussions between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) are being carried on the sidelines of the ICC annual conference in Barbados. “They are still talking. [But] it should be fine. We are making progress,” said a source close to the proceedings.

The tour is scheduled to happen from July 10 to 19 of the same month, in a period of which three One-Day Internationals (ODI) and two T20Is will be played. A formal confirmation on the decision is yet to arrive, but the indications are that the series will in fact transpire.

The series first came under doubt due to BCCI’s standoff with Ten Network, which holds broadcasting rights to cricket matches in Zimbabwe. The Ten Network falls under the ownership of Essel Group which recently announced plans to form a T20 league to rival the International Cricket Council (ICC).
