Lahore: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Shahryar Khan has said that he doesn’t have much hope for the revival of the stalled India–Pakistan series. Considering the prevailing situation in India, said Shahryar, he doesn’t think a cricket series between the two nations possible, as of now. Commenting on the stalled India-Pakistan series, Shahryar has said his country has always kept cricket and politics apart, and he doesn’t expect anything out of the series, which is scheduled to be held in December. He, however, said his nation has always kept the cricket and politics separately. READ: Pakistan NSA Sartaj Aziz rules out India-Pakistan “under current situation”
In the wake of the Gurdaspur terrorist attack in July, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) honorary secretary Anurag Thakur had “ruled out immediate resumption of stalled series” with Pakistan. “One cannot expect a cricket series amidst rising terrorist activities,” he added.
Earlier, the PCB chief had written a letter to Thakur, seeking an update on the proposed bilateral series between the two rivals in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The BCCI told the PCB chief that it would discuss the matter with him in Dubai on the sidelines of an International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting.
The PCB-BCCI meeting is expected to take place between October 8 and October 13. According to a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the PCB and BCCI, both the countries are scheduled to play six series between 2015 and 2023 after a clearance from the Indian Government.
