India maintain their unbeaten tag, as they defeat Zimbabwe in Match No. 17 of ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers 2017. Playing at Colombo’s P Sara Oval on Monday, India restricted Zimbabwe for a paltry total of 60 and then chased down the target in 9 overs, bagging a 9-wicket victory. With this, they have four wins in four matches. They will now head to the next round as the table-toppers of Group A, with 8 points. Zimbabwe, on the other hand, end their run with only one victory (against Thailand) in their four matches.
After electing to bat, they lost their first wicket in the very first over as Modester Mupachikwa was send back for a duck by Mansi Joshi. Zimbabwe kept losing wickets in quick succession and failed to build any vital partnership. They found it nearly impossible to survive India’s bowling attack. Only two players got to double-digit scores. Mary-Anne Musonda showed some good batsmanship with some good-looking drives. However, she could not contribute more than 26 runs. Meanwhile, Precious Marange played an interesting innings, hitting a six off the first ball she faced and managing 12 runs. Zimbabwe’s innings came to and end with 60 runs in 28.5 overs.
